I’ve been what I would call a ‘business builder’ since graduating from University aged 21. My first ‘real’ job was as a legal recruiter and I was given a desk, a legal directory and a phone and told to ‘make some money’! As a recent graduate with a fair few debts and a love of shoes and clubbing, I didn’t need to be told twice!
I continued to build businesses for other people for the next ten years, until I decided that it was time to do it for myself. It was April 2006 and I left my job as director of an international offshore recruitment firm in Dubai, and took some time out to re-train and travel. But to be honest I was only really playing with the idea of working for myself – I always had the option to go back into paid employment.
It took the sudden death of my dad at 60 years’ young, quickly followed by a surprise pregnancy and becoming a single parent for me to finally commit to realising my dream of owning my own business.
Although it would have been easier transition for me to start a recruitment business, I felt the need for a new adventure, to create something new.
I took the best bits from my recruitment and headhunting days, mixed them with my values and beliefs, and created a fulfilling business that promotes the ethos that everyone deserves to do work that they love. It’s always been my vision to have a business that reflects who I am and inspires, empowers and supports others to do what they deserve – something they’re truly passionate about. I have found this at Kudos Coaching.
However, my vision continues to evolve and grow! A recent interest in property development resulted in an opportune meeting with Karen Rutter, founder of the WSW Network. I loved the concept from day one and I have already made changes to my vision and my business as a result of that first meeting.
Women really do have more opportunities now than ever before. And I aim to grab each and every one of them!
I’m so excited by the opportunity to be involved at the launch of a new concept and to help empower and support women who seek to create financial security, independence and freedom.
